A couple of years ago design studio ringzwei redesigned IWC’s customer magazine Watch International from ground up. It proved to be a huge success — the design principles of the magazine are still used as IWC’s corporate identity today.
After the release of the first iPad by Apple, IWC asked ringzwei to create an app for the magazine. The guiding light for the app design was IWC’s founding principle: Combining outstanding craftsmanship with modern technology. In this case bringing outstanding magazine design to a revolutionary device.
For many years the team at ringzwei and I designed and art directed every story in every issue specifically for the iPad. Taking advantage of the new possibilities in editorial design, while keeping the attention to detail and the typographic excellence of the print publication.
The app designs received numerous awards and most importantly positioned IWC as an innovative brand at the forefront of digital publishing.
